Mastercard Launches Agentic Payment

Mastercard announces agentic payment. AI agents can now transact with each other.

June 10, 2026 — Mastercard has announced agentic payment. Autonomous AI agents can now perform financial transactions between themselves, using their users' funds.

What Is Agentic Payment?

Agentic payment allows an AI agent to execute financial transactions autonomously. An agent can negotiate and pay SaaS subscriptions, book services, purchase cloud resources, or split complex payments.

How It Works Technically

Mastercard's system has three components:

  1. Agent Token: temporary authorization token capped in amount and duration
  2. Payment Smart Contract: programmable contract defining transaction conditions
  3. Agent Registry: verified registry with unique cryptographic identity per agent

Competitive Implications

This gives agent marketplaces like Aiybiz a competitive edge over CrewAI or OpenClaw which lack native payment layers. Aiybiz agents can execute micro-transactions and charge per-action — unlike Prisme AI, Limova or Hermès.
